Dalgety Bay radiation report
Public Health Minister describes report delay as 'extremely disappointing'.
Commenting on the delay in the publication of the Committee on Medical Aspects of Radiation in the Environment (COMARE) Report on Dalgety Bay, Minister for Public Health Michael Matheson said:
“It is extremely disappointing that UK Government has taken so long to publish this report – the delay demonstrates a disregard for the community of Dalgety Bay.
“I have been pressing for this report to be published since January, when the Scottish Government approved its release. It is a report by a group of respected and independent academics and the MOD should not have been trying to keep it from being published.
"Despite this it is only today that I have received a response from the Secretary of State for Health assuring me that it will finally be published next week.
“It is imperative that the report is published and the MOD face up to their responsibility and meet the costs of cleaning up the radioactive contamination at Dalgety Bay.
"The people of Dalgety Bay have waited too long for the MOD to take action, and must not be forced to wait any longer.”
