The First Minister’s Official Spokesperson (FMOS) welcomed journalists to the briefing and ran through the day's key events:
The First Minister is today chairing a meeting of the Scottish Cabinet in Aberdeen. Following the meeting there will be a town hall discussion where members of the public can put questions to members of the Government.
While in Aberdeen the First Minister and Deputy First Minister, John Swinney, visited Pipelines 2 Data, an Aberdeen-based oil pipeline support service provider. Speaking at the company premises the First Minister called on the UK Government to do more to encourage new exploration in the North Sea, citing steps taken in Norway to restore a previous decline in exploration there.
Later today the First Minister will also chair a meeting of the Scottish Energy Advisory Board.
Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Communities and Pensioners’ Rights, Alex Neil, is visiting the former prison at Craiginches that is being transformed into key worker housing for health workers and teachers.
The FMOS then ran through key events for the rest of the week.
The FMOS confirmed that Friday 27th February will mark the First Minister’s first 100 days in office.
