The Scottish Government Spokesperson (SGS) welcomed journalists to the briefing and ran through the day's key events:
The First Minister is in Orkney where he will launch a prospectus on more powers for Scotland’s island communities, and also open Copland Docks in Stromness.
The Deputy First Minister is at Edinburgh University where she will deliver a speech and also launch the draft Scottish Independence Bill. The Bill will include details on how an independent Scotland could prepare a permanent written constitution in a fully participative process led by the people.
The Commonwealth Games transport marketing campaign will be launched today at 14:00 in Glasgow.
Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill is visiting the Scottish SPCA to see the impact of air weapon crime on animals.
The SGS then ran through key events for the rest of the week.
The SGS confirmed that the Military and Civilian Health Partnership Awards were to recognise those medical staff that work in both the NHS and as reservists in the military.
