Media Briefing - Monday 2 June 2014
The Scottish Government Spokesperson (SGS) welcomed journalists to the briefing and ran through the day's key events:
The Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill and the Lord Advocate Frank Mulholland QC will be attending a Police Scotland briefing in Kelso to receive further information on the fatal crash that occurred at Jim Clark rally event over the weekend. The Justice Secretary and the Lord Advocate will also be attending the launch of the summer drink driving campaign at the Botanic Gardens. Police Scotland will be reminding motorists of the tough legal and personal consequences faced by those who drink and drive over the summer months.
The Minister for Local Government and Planning Derek Mackay will today be taking part in the final Islands Area Ministerial Working Group in Kirkwall. The SGS confirmed that a press release would be issued by the Scottish Government on behalf of the councils involved in the discussions and that the publication of a prospectus based on the six discussions that have taken place will follow at a later date.
The Minister for Learning Alasdair Allan is marking the Mandarin National 5 exams which are held today.
The SGS then ran through key events for the rest of the week.
