The Scottish Government Spokesperson (SGS) welcomed journalists to the briefing and ran through the day's key events:
Deputy First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon is visiting Dawn Homes in Glasgow and announcing that more than 1,200 households have applied to the Scottish Government’s Help to Buy scheme, with over 200 already in new homes since the scheme’s launch in September.
John Swinney, Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth, is attending the Institute of Directors stakeholder event in Inverness.
Enterprise Minister Fergus Ewing is marking the second stage of the Credit Union campaign, targeted at people that have been crippled by Christmas debt and encouraging them to seek help.
Health Secretary Alex Neil has announced that more than £1.1 billion has been reinvested into front line services through efficiency savings made by NHS Scotland over the past five years. The latest figures for 2012/13 show that NHS Boards have again exceeded their efficiency targets of three per cent, by saving £270 million.
Cabinet Secretary for Culture and External Affairs, Fiona Hyslop, is at The Hub in Edinburgh welcoming the launch of a new expo-funded trilogy of plays by NTS, and announcing the 2014 expo funding.
