Media Briefing by a Scottish Government Spokesperson - Monday 28 October 2013

The Scottish Government Spokesperson (SGS) welcomed journalists to the briefing and ran through the day's key events:Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Employment and Sustainable Growth, John Swinney, Minister for Local Government and Planning, Derek Mackay and Minister for Youth Employment, Angela Constance, are attending the autumn Convention of the Highlands and Islands in Helensburgh this morning.

Alasdair Allan, Minister for Learning, Science and Scotland's Languages is announcing the Gaelic Business of the Year Award this morning.

The SGS then ran through key events for the rest of the week.

The SGS confirmed that the official mergers of: Dundee and Angus, Glasgow Kelvin, New College Lanarkshire and North East Scotland College are to be confirmed on Friday.

When asked if there is any new information with regards to Grangemouth Oil Refinery, the SGS said that ministers are being kept informed of the situation.
