The Scottish Government Spokesperson (SGS) welcomed journalists to the briefing and ran through the day's key events:
Deputy First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, is inspecting the beginning of the Queensferry Crossing and preparations for the launch of the bridge’s southern viaduct. Today’s visit showcases preparations on the south shores of the Forth where the huge sections of deck are being made ready to be pushed out across the viaduct piers high above the water.
Sports Minister Shona Robison is in Dundee to launch the Scottish Government’s Youth Sport Strategy, where she will announce funding for physical education in Scotland.
The SGS then ran through the key events for the rest of the week.
When asked if there would be a geographical breakdown of where the PE funding was going, the SGS noted a news release would issue later today and that further details could be sought from the Communications Healthier desk.
The SGS confirmed that any queries on Fiona Hyslop’s speech in Denmark should be made to the Communications Culture and External Affairs desk.
The SGS noted that the Scotland’s Future stakeholder engagement event on Tuesday would be streamed live on the web, and any questions on it should be directed to the Communications Constitution and Economy desk.
When asked for information on a story carried in sections of today’s press on the relationship between MPs and MSPs pay, the SGS directed journalists to the Scottish Parliament, and advised the First Minister’s team would be able to help regards First Minister comments on the issue.
