Post-cabinet briefing by the First Minister's Official Spokesperson (FMOS) & the First Minister’s Special Adviser (FMSA).
The First Minster’s Official Spokesperson (FMOS) welcomed journalists to the briefing and provided an update from Cabinet.
The FMOS advised that the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing, Alex Neil, was in committee today and will later address Parliament on the findings of Health Improvement Scotland report into NHS Lanarkshire. FMOS informed the journalists that a Scottish Government news release has been issued.
FMOS advised that the First Minister visited a food bank in Edinburgh this morning (Tuesday, December 17 2013) and a news release regarding the visit and new research on the number of people using food banks has been published today.
FMOS gave an update on events for tomorrow (Wednesday, December 18 2013) when the First Minister will be doing a joint visit with Commander Hadfield at Liberton High School.
The First Minister’s Special Advisor (FMSA) informed that the Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning, Mike Russell updated the Cabinet on school leaver destination statistics. These show that positive destination for school leavers into further study, employment and training is at a record high.
