Post-cabinet media briefing by the First Minister’s Official Spokesperson (FMOS) and the First Minister’s Special Adviser (FMSA)
The FMOS welcomed journalists to the briefing and provided an update following the Cabinet meeting earlier today.
FMOS said the Cabinet Secretary for Commonwealth Games Shona Robison updated Cabinet on the Commonwealth Games 2014. Cabinet praised the gold medal performance of the organisers, athletes, volunteers and workers who delivered the best ever Commonwealth Games. The FMOS said Ms Robison reflected on the 11 days of sporting triumph, which saw Scotland smash its medal target. Ms Robison paid tribute to the 15,000 Clyde-siders, the emergency services and armed forces throughout the Games. She also highlighted the role of sportscotland in implementing a world-class sporting system in Scotland that has delivered outstanding success when the eyes of the world were watching.
FMOS also advised that the Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning Michael Russell updated colleagues on today’s exam results. Cabinet offered their congratulations to pupils, parents and teachers for all their hard work over the last year.
