Media Briefing – Wednesday 07 May 2014
Media Briefing by the First Minister’s Official Spokesperson (FMOS) – Wednesday 07 May 2014
The FMOS advised journalists of the day's key events.
The FMOS said the Fisheries Secretary Richard Lochhead is attending the Seafood Global Expo in Brussels today, where it has been announced that Scottish farmed salmon has generated £2.34 billion in export revenue since it was granted Protected Geographical Indication in 2004.
The FMOS also said the Deputy First Minister (DFM) will today make a ministerial statement to Parliament on the Bedroom Tax and Discretionary Housing Payments. She said this follows on from a letter from the UK Government’s Secretary of State for Work and Pensions last week on the issue.
The FMOS also said Finance Secretary John Swinney would be giving evidence to the Finance Committee on, among other issues, the announcement of the Scottish Fiscal Commission.
When asked what time the DFM would make the Ministerial Statement, the FMOS replied it would be at 1440.
