The First Minister’s Official Spokesperson (FMOS) welcomed journalists to the briefing and ran through the day's key events:
The Labour Market Statistics for today have been published showing the Scottish employment level is now at a record high with the unemployment level falling to below 150,000 for the first time since 2009.
The First Minister is today appearing in front of the Convener’s Committee in Parliament setting out the progress made so far on Programme for Government.
The FMOS also pointed out that the date was announced for the setting up of the Sentencing Council – October 2015.
The Cabinet Secretary for Education Angela Constance is visiting a new skills project in Ayrshire, and the Minister for Learning, Science and Scotland’s Languages Alasdair Allan has announced £2.75m funding for all of Scotland’s Science Centres.
The Cabinet Secretary for Health Shona Robison also announced the introduction of a new bowel cancer screening test, as the Detect Cancer Early campaign turns three.
The FMOS then ran through some other key events for the rest of the week.
The FMOS confirmed that Friday 27th February will mark the First Minister’s first 100 days in office.
