Independence guide reprint
Copies run out in days as 10,000 extra ordered.
An extra 10,000 copies of ‘Scotland’s Future : Your Guide to an Independent Scotland’ have been ordered to cope with high demand, it was revealed today.
The extra orders are in addition to the original print run of 20,000.
As of Friday morning, other key stats on the comprehensive guide include:
• 368,466 page views of Scotland’s Future on the Scottish Government website – 341,662 views of the main document and 26,804 of the summary.
• 30,149 downloads of the eBook versions – 27,142 of the main document and 3,007 of the summary.
• 67,439 page views of the PDF download page on Scottish Government website.
• Over 11,000 calls the phone line and 10,000 emails were received from people requesting hard copies
• 101,099 visits to scotreferendum.com
• Over 8,000 views of press conference video on Youtube and #indyref was shared 8,528 times on Twitter on launch day.
From Monday, 2.5 million postcards with information on how to access the document will be delivered to households across Scotland.
A summary of Scotland’s Future will also be translated into 13 languages - Gaelic, Arabic, Bengali, Cantonese, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, French, Spanish, Polish, Chinese Mandarin and Russian. The document will also be made accessible to those with disabilities by producing braille, audio and easy read versions as well as being available in British Sign Language.
Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said:
“We want as many people as possible to read our comprehensive guide to independence and make up their own minds about Scotland’s future.
“I knew there would be demand for the document – but I had no idea that we would run out in just a few days!
“This shows the interest that people have for solid, reliable advice on what an independent Scotland will look like. And we are happy to provide that.
“It details how the powers of independence can be used to benefit our citizens underpinned at its heart by economic growth, jobs and fairness. Independence will transform our country for the better. The blueprint includes 650 questions about an independent Scotland – and delivers on the answers.”
Scotland’s Future is a landmark publication on our country’s future which is first and foremost for the people of Scotland – as such we are looking forward to making sure the public are as well informed as possible about its contents and the huge opportunities offered by independence.

The overall cost of distribution and average cost of copies of Scotland's Future will be dependent on the volume of books printed and sent out. We will update on costs in due course.
